A cat who was plucked from the street after years, bonded with a house cat and filled what was missing in their home.

About two months ago, an emaciated cat showed up outside a Good Samaritan’s yard, needing rescue. After years living on the streets, his body declined and took a turn for the worse.
Lisa Winters, director of Little Wanderers NYC, was apprised of his plight and immediately agreed to take him. With the assistance from SaintSpiro Cat Rescue and Eddie, a volunteer, they brought the cat named Kai to safety.
Kai was in very poor shape and taken to the emergency vet right away. Eddie offered to look after him, so he could recover in the comfort of a loving home.

The cat was anemic and had a severe upper respiratory infection. With the support of Little Wanderers NYC and plenty of TLC from Eddie, Kai was nursed back to health, gained several pounds, and his beautiful personality shone.
As soon as he felt better, he started seeking affection from people, greeting them with his sweetest head bumps and snuggling with them whenever he got a chance.

Kai would demand affection by pawing at his person, even standing up on his tip toes. After braving the outdoors for so long, he desired company constantly as if to make up for lost time.
When Allyson learned that Kai needed a long term foster home, she and her partner couldn’t say no to the sweet boy.

“We lost our first boy cat, Howard, in January, and his sister, Nugget, was really sad and depressed,” Allyson shared.
“We weren’t ready for a while, but when I saw Kai’s story and how he needed a foster, he just tugged on my heart. We decided… we’d give fostering Kai a chance.”

Soon after arriving, Allyson was met with a sweet, gentle cat who just wanted to be doted on. He was so appreciative and instantly became enamored of his new family.
“He just fit in like he always belonged here. He absolutely came into our home and took over our hearts and lives, including his new sister Nugget.”

When Kai was introduced to Nugget, he was so smitten as if he’d found the buddy he’d been waiting for. He would curl up next to her and wrap his arms around her.
“He truly thrives with a sibling. He is always looking for her or giving her a bath.”

Kai has also rediscovered his inner-kitten and loves to play with toys and create feline mischief, but he adores his family above anything.
He will stop in mid-play to give his people a dose of his love.

“He comes and gives kisses. He brings a joy to our house that was missing since we lost Howard.”
It didn’t take long before the family realized that Kai was already home. “We truly couldn’t have asked for a better cat or introduction to our family.”

“We’re honored to give him a place to live and be safe for the rest of his life where he’ll never have to worry if he’s loved or where his next meal is coming from.
“He is part of this family forever.”
